Now that you’re all settled, I must say, you’re looking rather refreshed.
It’s so nice when you come ’round.  We always have the best talks.

Man, I really need one of these…

What’s that?  Why ‘Lady Jane’?  My father calls me Lady Jane.  As a child, I will admit it was occasionally used in the context of “You’re in big trouble, Lady Jane!”, but it grew into an endearment (I think…).  It makes me feel very elegant and reminds me of the love of my family.

You wanted to know a bit about me?  Well…

I believe strongly in community.  I’ve come to understand that communities can vary in number from a few, to a global community.  Being a part of a community with people who have common goals and interests satisfies a very human need to gather and share experiences.

I believe strongly in the ability of the arts to connect with people on an individual level and to bring them together through common understanding and desire to experience truth and beauty.  Sometimes, it’s not quite so deep, and we just want to be entertained and have fun.  I’m all for fun.  Bring on the fun.  I’m very grateful to have had some great artistic experiences in my life, whether they were musical, theatrical, performance based, or visual arts based.  I want to facilitate these kinds of experiences for others.

My background and training is in music, and along the way I’ve done a bunch of performing and learned some stuff.  I read some books, crocheted some things, and did some sewing.  I cooked and baked and gardened and crafted and spent time out of doors.  I had a baby, got married, and I got a dog. And after all that, I watched You Tube and pinned some pins on Pinterest.

And then there’s tea.  I really love tea.  And scones.

Ah. Perfect.

And starting sentences with ‘and’.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention a particular interest that I have in the writing of Jane Austen and the Regency Era (c. 1811-1820).  I’m in the midst of constructing my Regency wardrobe and loving it.

10 million BBC documentaries later, I feel very well educated and entertained!  Thank you, BBC!  But seriously, this is an area that I’ve spent a great deal of time researching and learning more about.  And what has started as an interest in the Regency Era is blossoming into an interest regarding the history of the past several hundred years.  History is fascinating, and I am particularly interested in how the practices of a society reflect the timeframe from which they stem.  I enjoy understanding more about the building blocks and turn of events that led us to where we are today.  The Regency Era is of particular interest to me because of its literature, aesthetic, art, architecture, design, costume, music, cuisine, and how that society is reflected by these areas.

Anyhow, I’m so very glad you dropped in.  I’m sure we’ll be able to get together soon.  It’s always such a pleasure to see you.
